Basement Remodel

This basement was gutted, the partially rotted Fir floor (and underlying rough concrete and sleepers) was removed. The windows were replaced, complete rewire, sound insulated (floors, walls, ceiling) and surround-sound installed.

The stone fireplace was electric and not operational and the decision was made to remove. A gas fireplace, because of physical constraints, could not be installed.

The floor was insulated with rigid styrofoam, looped with hydronic heat and repoured.

This room, while being a basement, is extremely warm and cozy. Kids can comfortably play on the floor all year long. And, in the summer, it stays cool, but not damp.
